Dawn of Magic Cubetastrophe: Our Mission statement

Here lies the beginning of an era. Here at Magic Cubetastrophe our mission is to guide you into making your perfect Magic: The Gathering cube. There are many different sites that help you decide which list of cards to use in your cube. We use those sites. We will direct you to those sites. We hope that you will use that information when you come here as we help you make the perfect cube aside from your Standard, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, and Commander decks.

You may own Magic: The Gathering cards and have them specifically used for specific decks. If you are an active and avid Magic player then you may know the tedious work that goes through sleeving and unsleeving deck after deck. Cards are expensive and hard to come by. That is where this blog comes in. Mind you as we do not condone making proxies for the intent of never buying the cards. We do, however, encourage proxies for the intent of testing decks, preserving expensive cards, and making it easier to transfer cards from deck to deck.

Many believe that proxies are wrong and should never be used no matter what because it takes money out of the hands of the creators of the game. Our philosophy is that proxies encourage people to play and, in fact, advertises and will lead to more players. It helps them learn and get into the game.  Lets face it, Magic: The Gathering is the most addictive card game ever created. Some may take a break for a year or even a decade but lets face, they always come back. We as Magic players want to achieve greatness and domination through the combos and synergy of these cards we wield. We will do whatever it takes to obtain that perfection. If it takes buying a whole booster box of Invasion to develop our limited skills or purchasing four copies of Siege Rhino to ensure our victory in a Standard Tournament then we will do it. We encourage proxies to encourage new players and to give existing players a chance to try out new formats like the cube.

Say you have an active deck that holds all of your copies of Batterskull. You would also like Batterskull to be in your cube. This isn't Magic Online. You can't easily move your precious cards from format to format. You could go out and trade for or buy another one but you're not sure you want it in your cube. That's when you make a proxy. If you don't like it then you don't have to get one. If you do like it then go and get one and come closer to perfecting your cube.

What we offer here is a "one stop shop" to high quality pictures of Magic: The Gathering cards that can be used for your cube. Hopefully you will no longer have to go through countless blogs and forums to look for that perfect picture to print off.  We will also direct you to programs and templates that will help you make perfectly sized proxies. This will help you envision your cube to a better state.

Word of caution. Although the use of proxies can be thought of as having a lot of grey areas there is a definite black and white guideline. Proxies are never to be used in sanctioned tournaments (please see wizards policy on proxies). Like we stated before they should be used in preparation for tournaments but never in them. You will be found out easily with random deck checks, found guilty, and therefore banned from tournaments by the DCI.

Magic: The Gathering is a wonderful game and if you want to succeed in it you have to work hard and spend A LOT of money. It's a collectable card game. People collect stamps, coins, or books but we collect Magic cards. Luckily we can actually use them to have fun instead of just putting them on a shelf just to look at. Proxies open a gate to help you achieve the specific collection you hope to someday achieve. Let us help you with that vision.
